Owner/executive
chef Alain Bennouna is bringing a second insta llment
of his exciting restaurant to Westchester. His first venture
penetrated the NYC market with great success, as he bestowed
the meat packing district with his original concept of Moroccan ‘nouveau’ cuisine.
The
concept of Moroccan ‘nouveau’ combines rich
Moroccan culinary tradition with fine dinning, providing the
client with an olfactory adventure sans this side of culture
shock. When reviewing the cuisine of Mr. Bennouna’s first
restaurant in the November 28, 2001 Dining Out section, the
NY Times expressed that the chef “…orchestrates
his spices deftly, and he modernizes with quite good taste.” and
from the New York times February 4, 2007 ".....The authentic
welcome and delicious, fragrant food bear a distinctly personal
stamp. Mr. Bennouna is in love with his native cuisine, and
he wants you to love it too."
The Restaurant turned an
Italian bistro into a Moroccan warm oasis. The space is covered
with beautiful tiles, tapestries, and various hand-made crafts
that the owner handpicked and imported from small marketplaces
in the heart of Morocco. A gorgeous lounge centered on an intricately
tiled fireplace provides a comfortable spot for those awaiting
a table or simply in the mood to have a nice cocktail such
as Casablanca Storm or Morocco-tini. Westhester Magazine, March
1, 2007 described it "...he's completely transformed the
space, with straight from-Morocco decorative finishes featuring
colored-glass pendants, Moroccan textiles, and geometric tiles.
Beside beaten-copper dining tables, Zitoune features several
cozy sofa nooks for slouchy nibbling low, candlit tables." |
